SRM Powermeter Installation, Griffen Kompresser

The powermeter is one of the most effective training tools one can add to a road bike. We like the SRM, as it is extremely robust, and has proven itself in the racing circuit; 80 of the top 100 finishers of the Tour de France use SRM power meters. Robert chose the SRM Professional to be installed on his Griffen Kompresser road bike. This is his daily "rider", and is the type of workhorse bike we recommend for everything from hard intervals, hill attacks and fast group rides, to centuries.

The SRM Powermeter and the Griffen Komresser

The SRM Professional weighs 100 grams less than the Amateur, and has four "strain gauges" embedded in the crankset rather than two on the Amateur. We feel that the Amateur model is great for training, but if one is weight conscious the Pro model is 1/4 pound lighter. The Hill Country around San Antonio challenges all riders, and we find that many people choose the lighter components if possible.

This gallery shows how we install the powermeter and route the cables so that they are protected and attractive. We use 3M Polyurethane Protective Tape to secure the wires to the bike, as well as other uses such as chainstay protection and abrasion protection where cable housings touch the frame.
