RAAM update by Dex – Austin team meeting

Our friend Dex Tooke is going to do the Race Across America and will be sending more and more updates as the date approaches. Here is his most recent posting:

Hi Kevin,

Myself and crew went to a RAAM seminar in Austin on Saturday. It was put on by RAAM veterans and RAAM officials. It was very eye opening and down right scary. It wasn't so much about racing RAAM as it was about crewing RAAM. I feel sorry for my crew. All I have to do is ride my bike. They have a ton of things to do and issues to deal with. The president of RAAM, Fred Boethling was there. He was a wealth of information and experience. Fred finished solo RAAM as a 60-69 age grouper in 2006. His account of his RAAM was amazing. We surely have our work cut out for us.

By the way, it looks like there might be scheduling conflicts for a couple of my crew members. If you know any adventurous souls that have a couple of weeks free in June who would like to participate in a road trip from hell and the adventure of a life time, please have them contact me. I am in special need of a bike mechanic. You work on bikes don't you???............smile.

79 days,

Dex

I am unable to close KGS Bikes to do this epic event but will reach out to folks who may be able to help. If anyone can volunteer you can contact Dex or me.
