Parlee Z3 Nude Finish with Lew Wheels, 13.28 lbs!
The Custom Parlee Z3 Nude
This Parlee Z3 is a first in a couple of ways. It has no clear coat, and the logos are etched into the carbon tubes. This is why we are calling it "nude" as the tubes have nothing on them to change the appearance whatsoever. They do have a UV protectant sprayed on, as the clear coat or paint protects the tubes from UV radiation. This is also the first bike we built up with our new Lew PRO VT-1 wheels. We have not glued the tires, so the bike is not totally rideable, but without tire glue the bike weighs 13.28 lbs. This is a Medium/Large Z3, with stock tubing! The M/L has a 56 cm virtual top tube, and the Lew's make the bike uncannily light.
We wanted to make the bike simply two colors: Carbon/Black and Silver. We used silver Nokons and Fizik handlebar tape, and everything else is black, down to the Speedplay Track Special pedals. We chose Arundel Trident cages because of their matt finish, as well as the Stronglight Pulsion ActivLink integrated cranks. We used the Thomson Masterpiece seatpost as it is lighter than the Reynolds we usually specify, and it matches the scheme of the bike better.
The Syntace bar and stem are our current favorites and of course we used Campagnolo Record drivetrain. Something is different here, as we used FibreLyte carbon/ceramic jockey pulleys and carbon mech plate on the rear derailleur. The shifting is nice, but it is a little choppy in the 53/25, and we suspect the teeth on the pulleys will wear in after awhile.
We have a nice gallery of this bike and feel it is a real winner.
