Parlee Z1SL True Flame - Robert
Parlee Z1SL True Flame - Robert
When we set out to build a climbing bike for Robert to compliment his Griffen, we wanted to create a machine that was comfortable, efficient, super light and of course beautiful. The Parlee Z1SL is an extremely light frame, and this size 53 weighed in at about 850 grams. It has the True Flame paint scheme and we added all sorts of cool parts to make it unique. With the Topolino Revelation C19 wheels the bike weighs less about 13.75 lbs, including pedals. This is a bike that can be ridden every day, and it performs very well.
Making an Extremely Light Parlee Z1SL Custom Frame
We added some exotic parts such as AX Lightness Orion brake calipers with Zero Gravity brake pads and pad holders. We also specified the AX Lightness Daedalus seatpost. Since Robert weighs less than the 175 lb limit and takes extraordinarily good care of his equipment, we could put anything on this bike with confidence. The Campagnolo Record drive train is complemented by a Stronglight Pulsion ActiveLink (integrated bottom bracket) crankset, Speedplay Zero titanium pedals, Fizik Arione braided carbon saddle, Syntace Racelight bars, and a Syntace stem.
The parts are connected with Nokon brake and shifter cables and housings, and the bars are wrapped with Fizik handlebar tape. Rav-X bottle cages hold the liquid stuff.
As with all our high-end bicycles, we worked closely with Parlee and with Robert to make sure the bike would fit perfectly. We use Bike CAD software to verify that the frame that is manufactured will in fact work with the saddle and handlebar locations that we calculated with our fitting system. All in all, this represents some of our best work and is an absolute joy for Robert to have and to ride.
