Bridgestone Anchor Superbike - Ultimate Track Sprinter

The track bike is extremely well developed in Japan, where the Keirin is raced. The Keirin is a track race where pari-mutual betting is done for very high stakes. The best Keirin riders are millionaires and as such a level of high-end track bikes and equipment has been created. The actual bikes used in races where betting occurs must be NJS certified, which does not allow modern frames such as carbon fiber to be used. Non Keirin races can be held on any type of frame, so the modern equipment is featured.

Bridgestone Anchor Perfection

We carry the Bridgestone Anchor as an example of a Japanese Superbike. The frame is high-modulus carbon fiber and is manufactured to an extremely high level of quality. The paint jobs all have pearl finishes, which highlight any flaws. These frames and forks have none. The bike is as stiff as any of the "major" sprint bikes with the added benefit of Japanese perfection. They also have an integrated chain tensioner which is truly innovative.

Superbike Quality

The other components of our Superbike all are the best of NJS certified masterpieces. While the NJS certification limits "improvements" allowing one rider to have a technical advantage over another, they also enforce extremely high quality standards. Thus, a bike can be assembled with components that may not be well known outside of Japan or the track elite, but are true works of art.

The drivetrain on this bike has a Sugino Zen chainring, an Izumi model V chain and a Euro Asia Imports Superstar cog. All of these components have tolerences so tight that one can adjust the chain very tightly without having any binding whatsoever. The chain runs quietly and smooth, and everything lasts a long time.

The sprint bike has a couple of other unusual items - a deep drop handlebar which can be made of steel for strength and beauty, and a narrow saddle on 30 mm rails (as opposed to the normal 43mm). The seatposts must be special made for these saddles as well, which are designed for riders with big legs that would normally rub a wider railed seatpost. The Kashimax 5 Gold is an excellent example of this saddle, combined with a Nitto Jaguar seatpost.
