Bicycle Fitting and Analysis
KGS Bikes has perfected dynamic, ultra accurate fitting services. "These fitting sessions can be life changing," states Kevin Saunders, President. "While most people can ride their bicycles in an acceptable range of sizes, we have developed the techniques over 25 years to find the exact locations of the saddle, cleats and handlebars. This accuracy provides huge comfort and efficiency gains and can dramatically change the way people look at cycling. Many of our clients have had very painful experiences on the bike and we can turn that completely around."
The Importance of Fit
KGS’s expertise is highly valuable to riders who know that fitting on a very precise level is now available. The KGS Bikes fitting system is designed to be incredibly effective and accurate for the client, and allows them to ride further, faster and with more confidence and enjoyment. “Fitting a client at a high level is not easy,” states Saunders. “I have studied form and function for many years to be able to do what we do. Our goal is not to have the rider adapt to a bicycle but to make the bike fit the rider—down to the millimeter. Our custom bikes range in price from $10,000-30,000, so we have to get the dimensions right,” Saunders states.
A World Class Fitting
The KGS Bikes fitting system is brought from San Antonio each visit, and set up in a hotel suite. “We bring all the tools from home to allow us to be fully functional for our Dallas clients,” states Saunders. “We chose the Hyatt Summerfield Suites at Lincoln Park as our fitting headquarters as it is a great setting and perfect to help our clients focus on the process. Each fitting session lasts between two and three hours and is customized to the rider’s own riding style and fitness level. “We have clients fly in from all over the world to get fitted so we can build them the ultimate superbike. We are now taking that technology on the road and can help Dallasites get locally what others travel halfway across the globe to obtain. We typically can fit two to three people a day and will do so on an appointment basis so that we can focus entirely on the client.”
Results Speak for Themselves
Jennifer Purcell, a Registered Radiologic Technologist from Dallas states, "Riding on my team bike was becoming increasingly more difficult due to lower back muscle pain and lumbar lordosis. The new fit helps me engage my legs more, flatten, and relax my spine, thus making it easier for me to breath and recover." Jennifer was a former full-time bicycle racer who now works full-time and uses bicycling to stay fit and vibrant. She recently used the data obtained from the fitting session to order a new Parlee bicycle. "I know that it will be a perfect fit based on the data & measurements collected in the bike fit," states Purcell. "Kevin pays special attention to the rider’s responsiveness and energy output at different position during the fit and finds what works for you. I know that the fit I have is best with my body frame, structure and riding style!"
Another Dallas success story is that of Cynthia Post. "I have had seven knee surgeries, have severe scoliosis and have hip and ankle issues," says Post. "Kevin was the first person that has helped me get through a bicycle ride without excruciating pain. He had the patience to work with me knowing that my cleat placement and everything else had to be perfect for me to ride at all."
